Deleting Block of Text no longer works!!!

I am using MS Word 2000 and using it also as my editor for Outlook. I am sure I did something wrong, but now when I highlight a block of text to delete, it no longer deletes. I must now use the back space key or hit delete key on each letter.

Suggestions?

Silly question maybe, but does the delete key work in any other app, eg Excel, Powerpoint etc.

Hello Ken.
Yes the delete key does work in other applications except Outlook since I have Word set as my editor.
