I deleted a folder through a maped network drive. I ran restore on the computer that had the files, the folder was restored but not the files in it. Where do files deleted in this way go? I ran a PCI Inspector File Recovery. The files were no where to be seen, if I ran it right.
Please Help.

Where did you run the restore? On the server that the map was pointing to, or on the workstation?

To make sure, you should be doing it on the server.

Thanks,
Andrew

I ran the restore on the computer that had the files to start with. These computers are just networked through a router. No server. I am running a lost file program right now. Don't know what that will bring it is at 26000 files now. I can't see looking at all those for 2 files. However they are important. Why don't they show up in deleted files?
They must still be on that hard drive?

How long ago were they deleted? Deleted files do get written over when new data is placed on the drive.

Thanks,
Andrew

Today. The only new files should be the recovery program I installed. The folder that was deleted contained 100s of files. All the folders in that folder were restored, they are just empty no files. None are showing up in the Norton unerase wizard or the PCI recovery deleted directory.

I have found them I just had to do a deeper search with the PCI recovery.
