I'm wondering how would you recover a file that was removed from a remote shared drive accidently. If it's a local file you go to the recycle bin but this is a remote drive. Any suggestions?

There are various file recovery programs you can try. The less writing to the disk there is, the better your chances of recovery. The problem is most of these shareware programs have limitations until you buy them. I've used "Uneraser" which has a 16K file limitation until you register the program. I got lucky in that the file I needed to recover was under 16K. Maybe you can get approval to purchase a file recovery program. Then you'll always have it around the office when such an emergency arises. Be sure to research before you buy, see what comments people have about the various available software. Download.com is a good place to find comments about various shareware.

Would we run this at the server level or at their PC?

It's been a while since I used the program, so I'm not sure if you can install the program on a different PC in order to recover a file from a share. This would be what I suggest. Installing it on the server increases the risk of completely overwriting the deleted file.
