Ever find some files you can't delete? I just had some. Explorer showed them but Windows said it "could not find the file" when I tried to delete them. I even tried it in a command prompt. No luck "could not find the file".
Until I found out how to show the 8.3 or DOS file names in 2000. It is dir /x. It will show the old fashioned name for the folder or file.
Example: Directory name "drive l" shows up as "drivel~2 with dir /x. Then "rmdir drivel~2" worked to delete the folder.
FYI: I had run chkdsk more than once and it would not help.
