Is there a way to have Exchange 5.5 just throw away email that's bound for a nonexistant smtp address? We don't want them, and generating NDR's is expensive (and risky). Thanks!!

I just read my own post and don't think I was very clear. Here's what I'm asking for:

mail to a valid, existing smtp address on our server is allowed to come in (verland@domain.dm = ok!)

mail to an smtp that does not exist on the server gets dropped (gotfired@domain.dm = not ok)

This is super easy to do in postfix and the like but can't figure it out for exchange. Thanks!

you can't really drop them. Just create a "Former Employees" DL and add the appropriate SMTP addresses to it. Then hide it from the GAL. The mail will "disappear" and no NDR will be generated....

Thanks Bronto,
I don't suppose this is a feature of Exchange 2000? We plan to upgrade to that whenever I have a spare month...
