I have always been reading that if you disable Guest account you are a bit safer in not relaying spam. Well I have input a long password and disable it and disallow login for all hours. I also have a mailbox Guest, which I hide from global view. I guess I'm safe. Honestly, I'm just going along with everyone else who wants to prevent spammers using our servers.

But the question I have is, shouldn't we delete this account? What is it's purpose? Someone please shed some light.

I have never heard a valid reason to save or delete the Guest account. I always rename the Guest and Administrator account to something else. Everyone knows that these 2 accounts are named that and it easily creates a security vulnerability. I know you should not delete the Guest account in XP because it causes network issues. I am assuming that all OS's might be that way. I think as long as you rename the guest account, change the password and disable it, then you have done your part.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.
