I had to reinstall win2k and now when I log in I cant log into the account that was there before. under docs and settings the account i need to log into was named my user id. now when I log in it created a new account (my user.domain) and I cant access all of my programs. It also added additional admin accounts (admin.computer name) Im not sure what to do now. I cant just delete the user.domain account and log in to the one I need. I hope this makes sense.
All of my programs are still on the computer but in a different account (user id). this is wierd.

So, you are (were) member of a domain? Your reinstall - it was a reinstall, not a repair? And you reinstalled on top of existing installation (ie, no format)? So, profiles from the previous installation are still there - but are not known by new installation (which is why windows is ignoring them and creating new ones). Also, if it was a reinstall, you'll also need to reinstall (most of) your applications - as although the program files entries may still be there, there will be no registry entries and required system files may be missing.

If you need more help, please post back with more details of your setup, network and what exactly you did and where you want to get to. You may still be able to use the previous profile (or parts of it - eg, emails?) by copying/importing etc.

Guilo,

It sounds as if though you are now having to log into a Domain server. Maybe you chose the incorrect option when setting up?
As far as your old programs not running, only the ones that were installed while logged in as the local admin will be registered to all users. The same thing happened to me when my company started using a domain.

Try Un-installing the programs on your old login, then reinstall them under your local administrator account.

This should make them available no matter what login you are using.

Good Luck
