'lo all,

I have a computer running XP (1.21Ghz Duron processor, 256MB RAM) which suffers from a delay when you try to execute any programs.

This only happens when you first boot up XP, but the delay until the programs open can be minutes - there's very little running at the start up of XP (AVG, Wireless Network, ADSL connection), any suggestions?

I'm aware that 256MB of RAM is the bare minimum for XP to run with, but other than upping the RAM - do you have any other suggestions for speeding up the computer?

I currently use Easy Cleaner to get rid of unnesscary files, and defrag when nesscary, I also regularly run Ad-Aware - any other suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

As the problem seems to be related to startup, it may be an idea to use MSCONFIG or a similar program to disable one or more of the startup programs in an effort to find the resource-consuming one. - Any indexing service running ?
