I have 2 Windows 2000 Servers. I have a cluster in place using Veritas Cluster Server 2.0. Each Server has SQL Server 2000, and each server is solely used for SQL Server 2000. We have a raid array by RaidTech.

Every hour an the hour on one of the Win 2000 servers, I get an error message 'Delayed Write Failed'. 'Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \Device \HarddiskVolume1\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error maybe caused by a failiure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.'

The error is stored in System log in event viewer.

How can I find out what data is lost or which file it is. I have manually watched around the time this occurs with task manager open, but am at a loss. This error has also occured on the other server, but very rarely.

Any Ideas welcome.

that sounds bad.

this has happended to me several times shortly before a harddrive failure.

i would check cables etc. and maybe take the drive offline and do a full error check on the drives.

also check i a drive is too hot.

the controller could also be the guilty part.

i have seen this also, when my controller was running higher busspeed than the drive could handle, then i put the drive under a slow controller and the error stopped.

hope this helps.
