Delayed disk write ATI prob

I'm getting intermittent crashes (mainly games - high graphics spec).
I swapped and ATI radeon for an nvidia geforce and the problem's been happening ever since.
But I also swapped a hard drive at roughly the same time.

So:

I'm getting a 7000 event error, and M$ say it's a EVENT_SERVICE_START_FAILED problem and I need to check that the evnt service is in the right location and not corrupted. The event is ATI WDM Specialized MVD Codec, and sure enough it's not in the right place - it's been deleted.

What does this mean, and can I do anything about it short of a re-installation.

But also:

I have my Primary and Secondary drives on IDE1 running off a thin cable (80 wires, I think) bot big (1 100G 1 120G) while primary on IDE2 is just my CDRW running on a bulkier, old cable. Should I swap them around, and do I need a new flatter cable for the CDRW if one of the discs is sharing it?

Help?

I would download driver cleaner 3 from and have it remove all ati parts.

I had problems with ati uninstall leaving stuff behind that caused a conflict trying to update the driver. This program will remove EVERYTHING. It can also be used to remove NVIDIA drivers if you have the need to update the drivers for your new card and its causing you problems.
