Hello All,

My client has a large receptionist team that fields the calls of several law firms.

When a call is first received the caller ID of the caller is shown

There is a delay before the line tag is shown and they need that tag to know how to answer the phone. Is there anyway to speed up the line tagging display?

Thanks!

Analog line?

Are you using line appearances rather than call appearances?

How is the line tagging being applied? (ICR, Voicemail, hunt Group, ....)

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Indeed, my ICR tagging shows immediately, never seen a delay before :)

What type of phone are you using?
is it the 1400 or 1600 series phones which are limited with the amount of lines that can be seen?

Sorry about my late reply!

We are using a PRI line - the phones are 9608s - Only standard line appearances are being used.

The line tagging I mentioned is on inbound call routing in the tag field.

One of the law firms is forwarding their hosted voip number to the PRI number and they seems to be the only one with the extreme delay. I suspect it is due to that carrier sending the CID info over before the line tag is shown. Disabling caller ID is not an option. I talked to the owner of the number about porting it to the same PRI to avoid forwarding but he doesn't want to do that either.

So I was thinking maybe there was some way to reduce the CID display time before the line tag shows?

Only standard line appearances are being used." - Line appearances aren't standard!

I asked if it was them because of the way they work. They will start alerting immediately the line receives a call, which can be before the complete CLI is received (not normally a problem with PRI but you have that extra SIP forwarding leg as you mentioned). Since CLI is one of the things the IP Office uses to match the call to an incoming call route and thus a call tag, any delay can create a scenario where the line is alerting before the call tag is applied. And I would suspect that for many phone, the call details display is only updated on a ring cycle.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

sizbut - YES I believe that is exactly what is happening.

Guess there is no way around it huh?

instead of standard I will use 'default'? in any case, not bridged appearance and not coverage appearance, for lack of a better explanation its the one that says =a, =b, =c in button programming ;)
