First question is should i? I know it's probably been 3 years and I"m figuring it might help speed up file access speeds.

Second question is.....how can I schedule it to do this overnight. Obviously I can do it during the day when everyone is on it and I don't want to wait till everyone leaves as some stay awhile after me.

Tried the Task Scheduler and defrag wasn't an option.

I defragged both our servers recently and it went by without a hitch. I started the jobs when it was time to go home, when almost everybody had left.

I know what you mean about the task scheduler, I also tried that and found it less than useful!

Are there any implications other than performance related issues when defragging while people are using a server?

I should imagine that there will be a way to schedule a task however.
