I am new to Nortel and need to know what the difference is between the ACD Directory Number and the ACD Position number and what their uses are. These ACD phones also have a DN number which I understand. This location has a SECC which is the main ACD unit and that also comes with a different ACD number pointing to a group of phones that are assigned separate ACD Directory numbers and ACD position numbers.

Any clarification would be most helpful.
Thank you.

The ACDN is the number that agents belong to, the Position ID number is so you know who handle the call. You may also have an Agent ID which is used by the agent to log into the ACD Que, this is used when the agents don't have a specific desk to set at.

Thank you, one more question: The ACDN is different on every phone. I come from the Avaya world and usually the ACDN was the same number and all the agents belonged under that one number. It doesn't make sense to me why the ACDN is different no every phone. Is there an explanation for that?
For example, one extension has 2349 as DN, ACDN is 7975 and ACD Pos# is 7479, the other extension has 2322 as DN, but ACDN is 7974 with ACD Pos# 7925. Both these extensions belong to the same ACD group in SECC which has a totally different ACD number.

ACD-DN is the actual queue ID.

ACD Position ID is built on the phone and is an identifier of the set to the queue.

no matter where you go, there you are.
