Trying to default an IP Small Office via the DTE port. Get to loading 70% of the IP401 bin file - and the process chokes - and goes back to a multi-sector erase - repeats the load attempt - and chokes again - ad nauseum.

I am using Manager 4.15 and using the IP401 bin file. Should I go back to an earlier release of IPO? Is the loader big enough (memory-wise) on the Small Office or do I have to do something special to get it to work.

The unit currently has a "red" error light and is basically useless and can't be accessed normally.

It should fit but try the 3.2.999 loader first

When you say "loader" do you mean the 401ng bin file in that 3.2999 folder or some other file first?? I tried the 401ng file in that folder - and it still chokes at 70%. There is also an "nadcpv2" file in that folder. I think I have tried every ip401ng file I can find (going back to 3.0.999 - and so far they all choke at 70%. Is there any document that spells out the default/upgrade procedure for an IP Small Office. I have no idea of the current firmware - since I cannot connect to it normally via Manager. All I get from Hyperterminal on initial connection is: Programming FPGA; FPGA Version 89; Ethernet Switch: Port ID=520, PhyId1/2=0410C1F; P6 Loader 1.1; CPU Revision 0x0502 - and that's it - it then does a full sector erase and tries to load the ip401ng bin file and chokes at 70% complete - then restarts the whole process all over again. I have pointed to various 401ng bin files in the Boot settings - but can't seem to find one that will go beyond 70%. I don't know how far I should go back in bin files.

Never mind - I'm an idiot again at 1:00am!! I had the boottp pointed to the correct bin file - but did not change my working directory settings to match - so it kept trying to load the WRONG ip401 bin file. Changed the working directories and VOILA - it successfully loaded the 3.2.999 bin file!!
