I probably should have mentioned its for outbound use.

I guess my question should be how do I ensure my emergency phone only uses route 9 when I pick up the phone?

thanks

If it's a single POTS line you're looking to dedicate just for the elevator then just go directly from the demarc to the elevator, this way if the PBX goes down, the phone won't go down with it. Put an elevator phone with an auto-dialer on it. Done. I would also allow it to accept incoming calls too - in case of a true emergency, they can call whoever it is that's stuck in the elevator to update them or make sure they're OK.

I've always preached for emergency applications - to keep it as simple as possible. The fewer links in the chain, the more reliable it will be when it counts most.

But assuming you have a reason for doing it this way...

For an appearance on your office phone (I'm assuming just another digital or IP set), KEY xx PVR 4551 (or if you don't want it hear it ring - replace PVR with PVN). For the route to be outgoing only, change your RDB so that ICOG = OGT.

I'm not following how you have wired this. Do you have a 500 tn or a cot connected to the elevator?

thanks for the help so far.

To answer some questions

I don't have a POTS I have a ground start trunk.

I have the 500 set wired to a TN not the COT.
The 500 set tn will be configured with hot d to a monitoring center

Ok so you want the 500 port, that is wired to the elevator, to only go out route 9. Set up a targ for the route and then restrict the 500 port to that route via tgar.

Set up a targ for the route and then restrict the 500 port to that route via tgar.

can you give me direction on how to do this?

thanks
