Does anyone know of a decent FREE proxy server program that I can get. I am still learning and don't want to go out and spend $700 to get one that will only be used for experimentation. I would however like to find one that supports all the way up to Socks5 so that I may run ICQ through it. My end concept with this is to learn how to connect my LAN to the net using only my cable modem or my phone line. I would however like to maintain my FTP server too. Thanks for any advice.
Stanley
webmaster@glass-images.com
<a href= Images
I am not sure this is going to help, But have you hear of Linux? It has a proxy server call Squid it's free and it work really well too.
Good luck!

Squid is fantastic - I've been running it on a Redhat 7.1 box now for months - it's stable and fast, and with a small (and free) add on I can authenticate my users using their NT password - as for the SOCKS part ICQ really bites through SOCKS - much easier to just use NAT for that.
