Dead Screen - Nothing comes up

I have a Micron computer that was working OK when stored a year ago. Now the mounter is dead. Tried several good monitors and different cords. Is there any way to check the board or replace board from another computer ? Thanks Vic.

You can check the board, look for bulging capacitors, also if you have more than one ram chip, take one out at a time and try switching seeing if you get a picture then.

Does the computer do some beeps when it trys to come up? Is the computer case full of 'dust bunnies'?

Yes on the dust dust bunnies and no beeps on start up. Vic

Clean the computer and disconnect and reconnect all available connections and cards.

While your cleaning out the pc, take a can of compressed air and blow out all the connections. Dust can be a real pain in the butt. Also you might want to try a different video card or try the monitor on a different pc.

I've had stored pc's do similar, usually I just pull out the video card and re-seat it.

I cleaned all conections but no diference. After turning on the computer I get 3-beeps after 5 minutes time. I also note there are two cards in this computer with the same conector as the mountor conects to. Vic
Nothing Bulging that I can see.

If it is one long beep, then two short beeps, I believe that means that there is a problem with the video card. In my case, it was the video card and the modem card had the same interupt.

What bios do you have? In order to diganose the beeps need to know the bios. Let us know and we will see.

If your computers not under warranty, open it up and look on the board. It will be listed on there somewhere, such as ami bios or something, or you can find the name and model number of the board and post it on here and we will find the bios for you.

Today it beeped twice in the first minit.
I see nothing with bios on it. Would this be a plug in chip & about how large.?
I see "intel Desktop Board" #D815EEA and then off to the right E139761.
