I have an OPT 11 with 2 cabs, 2nd cab has call pilot which is working, but 3 falc cards are dead. One card was changed, with no effect but the problem remains any suggestions ?

Have you tried the FALC cards in different slots between the two cabinets? Are the FALC cards in the slots your analog phones were programmed for?

MIKE

yes they are existing cards that were previously working and then suddenly just stopped working

He is asking if the cards stopped working or did the slot? Have you tried moving the cards to another slot and test them?

no what was done was a spare card was fitted to
one of the slots that stopped working and it fired
up then stopped working

Check differnt card slots, this is to see if you have a back-plane problem or a card problem then we work from there

MIKE

As mentioned try cards in different known working slots to prove the cards then if they are ok check that the cables are on correctly on those slots other than that as above posible back-plane but would take that as a last option.

Have you looked to see if you bent any pins on the backplan?
If a pin is bent and shorting out to another it might cause some type of problem in that cabinet. I have seen stranger things..

I have not checked for bent pins, but all 3 cards
were working and then they just stopped.

On SSC card INI Button, system will take about 20 sec to cycle. no calls can be made until finished.

These dead slots; check your frame for the these cards output with a multi-meter. You shoulld be getting -51 to -52 VDC for each of the card slots units.

Double check your grounds as they can cause some of the screwiest problems.

When you say your slots are down, is there a red light on the FALC card or any XSM type messages from the switch?

Sorry for the ramblings, just trying to think of some way to help you out.

MIKE

can you communicate with the three cards? with the terminal enable/disable the cards (LD32) and see the lites change(red)? How about checking the switch tails to make sure they are still plugged in. I know this is just basic stuff but you still need to check. Just like worldwidedialtone said about checking the grounding of cabinet two. With the CallPilot working in that cabinet I would assume that the two cabinets are talking to each other.

thanks for all the info, eventually it was a faulty card and only when each card was removed and then installed determined what the problem was. New card installed all is now okay.

the FALC card has failed again, so I need to investigate
further, taking the Power off the shelf but not from
Call Pilot. still checking

have now changed the power unit and all seems to be okay
