No boot with DDR memory install ?

I remove the mem, try it in another PC ; OK
try another DDR mem in defect PC ...nothing no boot / no beep...(does bios should detect it automatically ? nothing to configure ? )

Install sdram ( the PC have 2 ddr slot and 2 sdram slot)and everything is ok since.

Am I forgotting something , I'm new with DDR stuff.

( the PC was running for 1 year with ddr since about one year )

Are you trying to use sdram and ddr at the same time? Can't. Is there a jumper to switch between the types of mem? Do you have the manual for the motherboard? If not, what kind of mobo so it can be looked up on the net.

200MMX? don't you mean EDO ram and SDram? surely there weren't any motherboards of this era supporting DDR?
Anyway, micker377 has a valid point, some earlier boards that had the option for two differant memory types had jumpers to sellect between the two.
Also as mentioned, only one memory type can be used at a time.

My friend defect board-PC was running well before with his ddr. and a monday morning nada nothing.

We tried new DDr ; nothing , I put my SDRAM ( without the ddr) and everything running well.; that is why i suspect the ddr slots...am I right ?

( the 200mmx ( my signature) is mine for playing on the net - the dinosaure is still alive )

So you've made sure that you're not using DDR and SDRAM at the same time? You can only use one or the other - can't mix 'em.

Let's get this straight, the computer in question was working OK with this particular stick of DDR? When you change from DDR to SDRAM, don't you have to change the FSB to get the "Double Data Rate" (133 becomes 266)? Have you tried resetting the CMOS, and (in BIOS) change the settings to "safe" or "minimal", whichever your setup calls it? What board and CPU are we playing with?

The Pc came new with is DDR.

A monday morning NADA- nothing - no boot. did the tests , remove the ddr, try a new DDR (no label on mem and board ) can't be sure it was the same "model-speed" of DDR : no boot and no beep.

remove the ddr and try in the empty sdram slot a 128MB sdram and every thing came up.

We try the original DDR in another PC and boot is fine.

That is what is telling me the DDR slot of MOBO is out of life . WRONG ? does it happen to other people here ?
