I've not had much experience with the 2250's so i am stumped on this one.

I tried to replace the "dead" 2250 with a new one but it does not seem to stay in service. I thought it was because the power TN's dere disabled but I see that the working 2250's power TN's were also disabled. Needless to say after 4 trips back and forth from switch room to recep desk, I am looking for some suggestions as to what could be wrong. The TN's for the 2250 are enabled, I have swapped out the 25db cable.

Any ideas?

since you've replaced the 2250, next replace the card.. disable it, replace enable

power tn's are not needed for operation. they keep the lamps from being dim if the 2250 is very far from the switch. they do stay disabled.. even if they are not programed, any tn is a pwr tn.. the pwr just keeps them out of the luvu table...

it's the console or
it's the card or
it's the cable

you can't program one to work part of the time..

If it were an issue with the card, would i see problems with the other units (2616's) built on it?

perry's right, a single port can fail on a card. a single port is more common then a card

Can you give a bit more info on the 2250? Do you get any message on the display?

Well now I have the problem on 2 consoles.

I'll stick the original problem 2250.

What was happening is that I would unplug the unit and plug back in, the correct display would come back up for a few seconds then fade out. My equipment vendor came out and did some testing and found that we might have an open short somewhere. So I moved my wiring to a differnt house range. We have the TN's for the console going to IDF wiring to homerun 25 pairs to recep desk. Still nodifference. We did find though that according to the NTP's on 2 of the power TN's, the pairs are split to have ++,-- together. There is also a diagram that does not show this setup, but shows it being wired straight through.

I don't want to risk pulling another working console down to test the wiring because thats where my second console issue came up.

I am at a loss as well as my vendor...

Try hooking up the console in the phone room, this way you exclude all wiring and distance as a problem. If it works there, then you have another problem

That is currently what we are working on. I am able to get a display on my first problem console but the phone does not respond. That is also the problem with my second console. So far both wiring configs (straight throught the way they were, and split pairs the way the NTP's state) are not working. At one point we thought that when they were installed the pairs were swapped at the amphenol connection.

UPDATE: I suppose it would help that when you are working on an 2250 console that you are not using a 1250. Well my bad. I never worked with these consoles before...

But it still doesnt explain why one console which is wired straight through works and the other that is now with split pairs for power works now.
