We've recently upgraded our DDS1 tape drive to a DDS4 drive. We're using the existing DDS1/90m tapes and I know a DDS4 drive will read/write to older DDS media but, I'm wondering if the new drive performs better with DDS4 specific media?

Thanks

Dan

I'm not aware of any specific reason why it should work better with DDS4 media rather than DDS1, however, depending on how old your existing tapes are, you might just see an improvement by using new tapes. The other thing to watch out for (especially if the old drive went out faulty) is that the tapes weren't damaged and then go onto damage your new drive.
