Hi,
Perhaps a simple answer as Even if it works you shouldn't but I'd thought I'd ask.
Recently replaced a tape drive that formerly used DDS 125 3mm tapes with a Sony SDT 10000 which I was told to begin using DDS 150 4mm. I was told to do so when ordering the tape drive as the rep said I would need different tapes as well.
Ok no problem. Well I inadvertently put a DDS 125 3mm in the drive. It fits so its not like trying to put a DDS in a DLT IV.
I first was worried that there was a slight size difference and perhaps the tape would stick. So I ejected successfully and sized the media up.
Then out of curiosity I popped the DDS 125 3mm back in the drive that I was told only worked with DDS 150 4mm. I checked the backup and it worked. Looked as if all the data was there on the tape that it wasn't supposed to work on.
So my question is Will DDS 125 3mm work without complications on this drive or did I just luck out? I am a bit of a skeptic sometimes when it comes to sales people.

I would appreciate any insight.

Thanks,
D
