I am wanting to host my own website with my cable provider (low bandwidth-consuming). I am wanting to use Windows 2000 Server with active directory and IIS. However, I am supplied with a dynamic IP address...so I decided to use Deerfield's services (DNS2GO, d2g.com) to support DNS.
Deerfield utilizes software to support DDNS, so I've downloaded and configured the software (happy.dns2go.com), made my Windows 2000 domain happy.dns2go.com, configured my DNS to forward to my ISP's DNS, and added a new entry with DNS to point to 192.168.100.2 (server IP). I also enabled dynamic updates in DNS. I put a default.htm / default.html in the root directory of my web server and when I typed in " or " it shows my IP address in the bottom of the browser window but it does not load any webpages...as if IIS failed or something. However, the built-in help tutorial that uses IIS and asp/webpages works fine, so I don't think it's a problem with IIS...

So here are the Questions:

1. Is this DDNS method supported?
2. If so, what do I need to do to make this configuration work? (please give me full details - I admit I'm a newbie)
3. Is there an easier method?

Thanks in advance!

(happy.dns2go.com was used as an example).

Keep fighting for your knowledge!

Yes, I default.htm page was renamed from another basic text-only webpage. I left an index.html, index.htm, default.htm, and default.html to see if any of these combinations will work. Please help!
