Hi All,
We have a tested application working fine from Win98 client and hitting a Win NT Server via DCOM. But the same app gives an "Active X Component can't create object" Error (429) when running against a Win 2000 Server. Are there any issues that need to be taken care of while using DCOM on Win 2000?

Thanks,
Hayer

Not that we have seen! We are using a win 2000 server with our dcom server application running on it and they are all connecting ok

i met this problem b4 and the solution is

(at dcom server)
got to start->run and type dcomcnfg.exe
double click your component description in the application tab
go to location tab and make sure the [run application in this computer] is checked and the other 2 is uncheck

note: never run the client program within the dcom server

The problem still exists - but here are more details about it -
It works fine for us with the EXE components configured thru DCOM; But the DLL components result in an "Active X..." error when invoked from a client. And we have done all the standard configuration that one needs to do for DLLs such as DLLSurrogate, etc.

If anybody has more info on this one, it would be highly appreciated.
