Hi

Dont now if this is the right forum to post this message,
but here I go!

On my developer machine(XP) my apllication works fine.
But when I release it to my web-server (Windows 2000 server) it not all that fine.

One of my functions is to create a MSWord (2002) document, DB-data. I get a time-out message. When I look into the event viewer, the error message reads:
"The server did not registrer with DCOM within the required timeout"

The only differanse between my delevoper-machine and web-server is a sercive called: DCOM Server Process Launcher
Its running on my developer-machine but not on my web-server.

Is this the crusial differance?
If so, how do I start it?

The problem is probably that you haven't given DCOM launch and access permissions for the ASPNET user.

To do so run "dcomcnfg" from the Start->Run menu and navigate to Component Services->Computers->My Computer->DCOM Config->Microsoft Word Document. Have a look at the properties and add the ASPNET to the launch and access sections by clicking Customise->Edit

Thanks.

Now I only need to find out what areas my user should have access to. When I run the application with administrator rights it works fine, but when I run it with my asp-user i get the error message:
"Can not open macro storage"

But I kind of figured that out, my asp-user needs more rights! :)
