Greetings, I am getting a DCOM error in my system log every 15 minutes or so, here is the message:

DCOM got error "Class not registered " from the computer cadserver7 when attempting to activate the server:
{5A5AA0AA-1DEB-4683-96B0-B43301E83971}

Any thoughts? This computer is running windows 2000 server service pack 4 and is not the domain controller

They are normally not problematic, unless you are having other problems. You might try looking up that particular COM object on that server or the requesting server.

But every time I've looked up DCOM errors, vendors indicate that they're "mostly harmless

Thanks for the follow up! I guess my only concern is that it just fills up the event logger with garbage, is there anyway to ignore specific event IDS? the event logger options doesnt seem to have an option to EXCLUDE a specific event ID. So my only option would be to have event logger ignore ERRORS but thats kind of silly
