Greetings folks,
I am responsible for a small network that has been sorely neglected for a long, long time. Since I have taken control, I have replaced the server, installed w2k advanced server thereon, created a domain, and cleaned all of the workstations. The environment is heterogenous w2k prof. xp prof. and some (ack, bleagh) w98se e-machines.
The issue causing me concern is that the event log on the server shows in applications, hundreds of error 10009 messages indicating that non-existent workstations could not be communicated with. Were the names absolutely unknown, I might assume artefacts in the database, however all the error messages specify slight variations on names of workstations present in the domain: i.e. jpar becomes fljpar, or lawn becomes relawn. No such names have ever existed on the network in any domain, so I am a bit stumped. Anyone seen this particular type of mess before?
Best Regards,
YehudaSF
