I have 3 Domain Controllers on my LAN with 2 seperate servers holding a copy of the GC. I have 2 (AD) DNS servers and I thought that if I had one DC fall offline that I would be covered by the other two DC's (one with the GC copy), well I recently had a domain controller drop its power supply and it brought my Domain to a halt. Since E2K is integrated into AD my email stopped working. I just dont understand what I missed? multiple DC's and another Global Catalog server, I thought that would cover me in a DC failure. Can somone show me what I missed?

Thanks for any suggestions

DNS server? PDC Emulator if not Native mode? Different Domains/Forests? Other Ops Master stuff? Schema Master? Infrastructure Master? RID Master? Master Browser if you're still using WINS?

Lots of moving parts!!!!

Good Hunting!!

I have 2 DNS server replicating properly
I'm in Native mode
No WINS
Single Domain
the Server that went down was the RID, Schema and Operations master.

Is there is any way to share the Master roles? If not it seems like putting all your egss in one basket doenst it?

Thanks

The Microsoft "Domain Migration Cookbook" is the overall study material you need:
But since it's kinda long, here are a couple of other items of interest:
