Greetings -

I installed Dbase 5.0 on a Gateway machine operating on Windows 98 with a USB connection to a HP 930 series inkjet printer. My Dbase programs ran fine under NT service pack 4 but I cannot get to the printer with the USB connection. My programs use a lot of streaming output - SET PRINT ON - ?"Print this out" - SET PRINT OFF - and, of course, CLOSE PRINTER. As soon as the program run hits the CLOSE PRINTER command I get a 'Program Unstable Warning' to save my work and exit. Additionally, when I use the CHOOSEPRINTER() command and select the HP 930 printer as the default and close the printer selection window the 'Program Unstable Warning' chimes in again. For whatever reason, the printer selection window shows this printer as the 'Specific Printer' and not as the default though it is selected as the default in windows. I have experimented from the Command Window but have had no luck sending streaming output from the comman line, but have been able to print quite nicely from the Crystal Reports window. I have gone back to windows and have created a 'Generic Driver' on LPT1:, selected it in Dbase, and this seems not to crash the program. So, it almost seems the USB connection is causing the trouble. If so, can I get a parallel cable and run my HP printer with both the USB and parallel ports connected??
