Date not working in 2000 dbase. 1

This is very strange. I have a combo box and text field on a continuous form. When I set the "After Update" event of the combo box to Me![TextBox] = Date, nothing happens. If I set the event to Me![TextBox] = Now(), it works fine. I would just use Now(), but I only want the date, not the time. I have checked my references, and none are missing.

Any ideas on why this is happening, how to fix it, or alternatives. Thanks alot for your assistance.

Not sure about problem, but if u slap the folling in instead;
me![textbox] =format(now(),"short date&quot
you should get the date only

Thanks! It works fine. I also tried setting a string variable to Now(), then set the text box equal to:

Left(variable_name, 8)

This worked also.
