I have the following table

Date                      Hours
11/8/87                     23
1/16/95                     12
8/12/92                      0
5/16/99                      8
1/1/00                       0
7/2/98                       6

I want to find the latest date from this list and
Hours should be > 0. What is the SQL statement for this. The answer should be 5/16/99.

SELECT max(DATE)
FROM your_table
WHERE hours > 0;

This works assuming your DATE column is using a DATE datatype. Since DATE is a reserved word, I would recommend changing the column name.
