This is the error log message in system

"96 hours have passed since last successful connection to the Data Store. This server will no longer accept connections until successful connection to the Data Store is established. "

This is what it said in the eroor log for application.

"Replication of license information failed because the License Logging Service on server "OUR DNS SERVER" could not be contacted. "

I can ping, ipconfig looks correct, and it get hold of our datastore server, when using nslookup????????

I am without ideas. Users can´t log in to the server, because there are no citrix licenses... but that is must be because the server has no contact with the Datastore.

Is there a dsmaint command I should use.....

Add to the following key

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TermService\Parameters
DefaultLicenseServer REG_SZ "ServerName"

Without the quotes and ensure that you can ping your servername NOT the IP address, you may need to add your server to the hosts file for added security!

Cheers,
Carl.

Should I make a new entry, or should the entry be there allready...Because it is not.

I am kind of scared to change too much in the regedit

I have made a new entry with a REG_SZ thats called DefaultLicenseServer and the appropiate servername.
But it still doesn´t work.

I have looked at our DNS servers, and they don´t have the License Logging Service running. I have made sure they are started now, and I have restarted the citrix server. But there are no changes.....

OH

is it the default datastore server, or the terminal license server?

OK..
I have tried putting in the server name in the Default and
DefaultLicenseServer REG_SZ without luck. I have tried to put in either the datastore name or the terminal service licensing server name. But the result is the same. When I restart the server now, I get this message in the eventlog application:
"WMI ADAP was unable to create object Win32_PerfRawData_CitrixICA_ICASession for Performance Library Citrix ICA because no value was found for property index 3292 in the 009 subkey"

Is it a trouble that this server runs FR2, but the rest of the farm are running FR3?

All your servers should be on the same service pack and FR level.

Have you got a prefered data store, is it running ok?

Do you get any Metaframe event errors, other than the one above?

Cheers,
Carl.

I get error code when in the CMC.
error code 1612 the datastore is not available.

I got a prefered server, and it is running fine.
The data store is upon a Oracle database, and that is running fine too.

I have tried to put FR# upon, but can´t. I guess it's because it can´t find the datastore.
I have tried to uninstall MF FR2 and MF, but it ends premature. I am pretty stuck here. I know I can force it to remove Citrix, but then I can´t remove the server from the farm, because the datastore can´t find the server.....

I am clueless

Can any machine communicate with the datastore, which I presume is "No".

Can your datastore talk to Oracle, can it run CMC ok? I would guess not! Maybe you need to re-create the ODBC link to your Oracle Database!

I take it you've done a google search on 1612 error code?

Cheers,
Carl.

It is only one machine that are not communicating with the datastore that I got these troubles with. The rest of them are doing fine. I can run the CMC from other servers, but not from the sick one.

If I try to change anything in the datastore abot the sick server, it will say "Error Code:457"

And I don´t get any result on google.

Re-creating the ODBC driver might be an idea. But I don´t know how. I need help with that.
I can see that there is a IMADirectory access.mdb
But what should I do with it.

Traver, are all the servers in the farm reporting this? This means that the server(s) in the farm cannot communicate with the farm datastore. First you should verify that the datastore is online. You can do this by testing the File-DSN-ODBC connection to the datastore. If it is online, you can stop the IMA service on your Metaframe server and recreate the local cache which the server uses as a cached resource to the datastore, then restart the IMA service. If this all works successfully, try to launch the CMC to view the farm.

It is only one server that reports this. The datastore works fine.

I am trying this advise right now. Found it at citrix knowledge base.
I don´t have access to the Domain server, so it might take a couple of days before the datawarehouse get to it.

"If your license server is a domain license server, you could change it to
an enterprise license server. You can view your license server role via
'lsview' from the resource kit.

Here are the instructions on how to change the role of your Terminal
Server License Server from domain level to enterprise level. Perform the
following on you license server.

1. Go to Start --> Run --> Regedt32 and select "Ok"

2. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TermServLicensing\Para
meters

3. Change the Role Type value from 0 to 1. 0 is for a domain level
terminal server and 1 is for a Enterprise License Server.

4. Go to Start --> Programs --> Windows 2000 Support Tools --> Tools and
select "ADSI Edit".

5. Expand the Configuration container.

6. Expand CN=Configuration,DC=<domain>,DC=<com>

7. Expand CN=Sites.

8. Click the container for the site that houses the Enterprise License
Server, for example, CN=Default-First-Site-Name.

9. In the right-side pane, right click and select "New" --> "Object".

10. In the "Class Object" wizard, select "licensingSiteSettings" and
"Next".

11. For the value type "TS-Enterprise-License-Server" and select "Next"
and "Finish"

12. Quit ADSI Edit

13. Go to Start --> Programs --> Administrative Tools --> Active
Directory Sites and Services.

14. Open the site where the licensing server is located and double click
on the "TS-Enterprise-License-Server" object.

15. Under "Licensing Computer" select "Change".

16. Select the Licensing Server and select "Ok", "Apply", and then "Ok".

17. Allow the changes to replicate to all the domain controllers.

18. Move the Member server back to the correct domain and then see if it
can find the Licensing server."

You are trying to solve a licencing server problem while you have a datastore server problem.

The reg keys you are talking about are about the MS Terminal server Licencing server.

You need the datastore for Citrix Licenses and published application information. So real citrix information.

First check to see that your ima service is running on the problem machine.

What you can try is use the chfarm command to remove the server from the farm en add it again.

You can also try to check the odbc connector.

DSMaint is also a nice tool to configure the datastore for that specific server.

Hope this helps a bit

the first message in the application event viewer was:

warning
event id: 213

"Replication of license information failed because the License Logging Service on server \\DNSservername could not be contacted."

Then after 14 ours the information arrives:
"Windows could not save the registry settings in your user profile on its first try because another program or service was editing them. Windows tried again and saved them after 24 attempts. "

In the system event viewer this is the first error message that appears JUST after a reboot, that has been done, because of a Microsoft Hotfix install.
"The Citrix MetaFrame Server failed to connect to the Data Store. Error - IMA_RESULT_FAILURE An unknown failure occurred while connecting to the database. "

there are a total of 24 hotfixes put upon this update.

I can´t do a dsmaint because it´s a Oracle DB, not acces.
I can´t remove the server from the farm, because there are no access to the datastore!!!

OK

I have solved part of the trouble. I have found out, that the TS licensing had been changed. So instead of having 15 we had 10 TS Licensing. That has been changed, and then some of the problem is gone.

This message is still in the eevent viewer
"The Citrix MetaFrame Server failed to connect to the Data Store. Error - IMA_RESULT_FAILURE An unknown failure occurred while connecting to the database. "

And still no contact to the datastore.

SOLVED

Thanks for all the help. How come that the solution always are more simple then the puzzle.
Whell, Changing the amount of TS licenses, and restart the DNS server, helped. Then all I had to do was to use the CHFARM command, and force it to do the change farm even though it could not find the datastore.

Thanks for the support
