database Read Only but why?

access2000 database on a W2000 server.. whenever anyone opens it thru a mapped shortcut the database opens as "read only", which is no good as it needs to be written too..

When opened localy its fine... All W2K permissions are set to "Full Control" for "everyone" for this.. so i'm guessing it must be something with the database

any ideas anyone?
