Hello,

I have an access database that is used with a visual basic application. Today the application started giving errors and I realized the database is locked or something. It does not have a .ldb file but when I try to open it in access it gives "Could not use "Q:\userapps\Dbase\test.mdb" ;file already in use" No matter what I try it won't let me in. I tried to run a repair on it and it gives the same error. Any suggestions on how to unlock it.

Thanks in advance,

UncleT

my 2 cents.

try rebooting your pc.

Sorry, wish I can offer more insight but hope that helps.

Thanks to all who responded.

For Everyone's Information:

The problem turned out to be a permissions problem. The folder the database was located didn't have write permissions. Therefore when the database was accessed the .ldb (Locking File) was unable to be created. I guess without this file the entire database is locked until the user that has it locked unlocks it.

Thanks again,

UncleT
