Running AS v9 on Win2K server.
This problem has progressed from not being able restore by session as the merge info was not available... i did a Merge from the tape and still no directory or file structure info to select.
When i try and do a Restore by Session, the list is now blank....

any ideas???
thanks

1) Make a backup copy of the database directory (minus the r*.* files).
2) Initilize the whole database.
3) Merge in a tape.
4) Try some test restores.

If it works then you have a corrupt database and it is time to choose which path to take. Leave things as they now are and just merge in whatever tapes you need or repair the old database. To do the repair copy back the original directory and run the utilities. There is a document in the ARCserve directory explaining how to use them as well as some faqs in this forum that will help to explain things.

Look in your //arcserverpath/temp directory. If there are a bunch of .cat files than the merge was almost successful. It grabbed the data, it just didnt put it in the database. Go to the command prompt at your arcserver directory and run "mergecat". Watch the .cat files disapear. Close the arcserver manager, open it back up, and try to restore by session.
This happens to me from time to time.
Hope this helps.
