I want to update a database I started quite some time ago. I'm 99% sure it was created with Access 2000.

However when I call it up, it says the database is read-only and won't even allow me to re-save it under a different name (as it would if we were talking about a Word 2000 document which was read-only).

I'm sure sure how to proceed to avoid having to re-create my database from scratch !

Regards,
Jay/UK

I had something similar once
I opened it by going to the file and changing the name i.e. click once and then again to highlight, changed the name to "A" and then it was fine, might work might not give it a try,

Regards, Phil.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your suggestion.

Thankfully, just after posting my "cry for help", I found another copy of the database which didn't have this error message coming up, so I'm okay.

Your suggestion may, of course, prove helpful to me in the future, so thanks.

Regards,
Jay/UK
