Database has reached Maximum size

HELP.

Very recently I keep getting this message when running queries in Access 97. The queries are not very complicated just extracting records by dates from a linked table via ODBC. And this message "Database has reached maximum size" keeps popping up and maxing out my db.

Has anyone seen this error before and do you have a solution or workaround or fix for it???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So how big is the mdb, max in A97 is 1gb I think from memory

The max size for an Access 97 database is 1 GB. Access 2000/2002 is 2 GB.

The work-around is upgrade to an up-to-date version of Access. 97 is Dickensian.

Thanks for the replies, I know that 97 max size is 1gb. But what I really need to know is there a way to stop the DB maxing out for no apparent reason, as one day it is working and then the next day - maxing out. Just before the maxing started, some new pc's were installed and old ones removed and these pc's were using Oracle 8 instead of Oracle 7.3 (old pc). So want to know if Oracle 8 is responsible or if some other setting on the new pc's is responsible. Is there anyway to stop or fix the db from maxing out?

Any solutions?

You still have not answered the question "Is it going to maximum size" ie how big is the mdb file?

I think what Ken is saying is many people have died because someone assumes the problem is obviously to do with X when by chance Y is causing the symptom. The response is therefore to start at the very beginning. If it does turn out to be X, you'll get there fairly quickly anyway.
