database container - Performance hit?

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me whether or not
having tables in a DB container slows operations down when using sql. Or if you have any links speaking about this, that would be appreciated also. Thanks in advance!

I've used three configurations - DBC with Views and contained DBF's, DBC with Views and Free Tables, and DBC with Views and some contained DBF's and some Free Tables - and I haven't noticed any performance issues.

Storing views in a separate dbc on each user's PC can improve performance by reducing network traffic.

Simply adding tables to a DBC won't make any noticeable difference to query speeds. There might be a tiny hit caused by the overhead of opening the DBC, but that's pretty negligible compared to the time needed for the query itself.

The way to improve performance of queries is to make sure they are fully optimised, or as close to that as possible.
