Just wondering - anyone know what happens when you hit your 16Gig limit in Exchange 2000 i.e does to server topple/what happens to exess messages :)

As always my company have implemented a new system without first thinking about it 16gig/500 = not much space !!

when you hit the limit exchange services will stop completely. I avoided this the last few months i was running standard exchange by defragging the db often.

Tell your company its time to upgrade to enterprise edition.

Make sure you do not allow your database to reach 16gb. If it gets there you will have to run a defgrag before you can mount the mailbox store again.

That takes anywhere between 4-8hours. You will not be able to reduce the mailbox store until then.

Yeah avoid it like the plague. There is no special way to drop the size quickly. You will have much pain.

Enforce limits - Get another Standard Edition Server - Get Enterprise.

Those are your options. Dan
