Is there a way to write a report on a length specific text file?

I have a file that looks like this:

907HXRXH,KENNY DUXNE E1 00004.1004
914XXDXNXLD,XXRXXRXE E1 00015.4704

I want to some how tell crystal what the different collumbs are and write a report based on it.

Thanks,
Tom

What you have is what's sometimes referred to as a space delimited file.

Create an ODBC connection and use the Micorsoft Text Driver.

Point at the directory, and then select options->Define Format->Select your file from the tables listing, and then define it as a Format of Fixed Length, and enter in the column specifics.

Another approach is to just import it into MS Access, and use connect to the Access database, that way you can use indexes and Access Queries as the data source.
