data shows in print preview, doesn't print

I have a form with a subform. The fields are unbound and values or text are assigned in code. Both forms have letter codes and numbers which show in print preview. The data on the main form prints, but none of it prints from the subform. I tried changing the font and it made no difference. Any ideas why I can see it in preview, but it won't print?

do you have the "display when" property of the subform set to Always?

Yes. In both forms.
