Forgive me if this has been addressed before, I performed a keyword search and had no success...

I am working with CR 8.5. I have minimal experience with the system, reporting out of a SQL database. The reports I am creating usually revolve around clients who are active. To do this, I use the "End Date" field...blank fields represent clients who are still associated with the agency.

I export the data to Excel to sort by the field. Clients with end dates are deleted and the remaining make up the report. I would like to be able to set a selection that would automatically omit anyone with a date in the field using the Select Expert.

So far, no luck. Each attempt omits all the data, not just the ones with dates. Any ideas?

Select Report->Edit Selection Formula->Record:

isnull({Table.field})

If this doesn't work, then use an isanity check on the date as well:

isnull({Table.field})
or
{Table.field} < cdate(1910,1,1)

This should net only very old rows or null rows.
