Hello,
When trying to import datas from a remote server (SQL server 6.5) to another (SQL server 7), i get this message:

"The license for the installation of MS SQL server on your source and destination connections does not permit the use of DTS to transform data ..."

I'd like to solve this problem without launching a complete re installation of MS SQL server on these 2 servers.

Any idea would be very helpful and apreciated!
Thanks.

Hi Phillippe

You cant use DTS from a SQL Server 6.5 server to a SQL Server 7.0 server. Try using DTS to export to a text file from SQL 6.5 and then importing the text to SQL 7.0 Hope This Helps

Thanks Bernadette,
I'm going to try this solution.

It sounds like one of the machines is running the Desktop version. SQL Server won't allow you to do DTS between the Desktop version and the Standard version if the Standard version was installed using per server method.

You might be able to change the Server running the Standard version to the other mode (per-seat, IIRC) and get it to work.

Thanks again,

Bernadette ,
i managed to import the datas using a temporary excel file, and i encountered no problem of data types conversion
(especially bollean)

Robert,
i'll check both installations.
in fact i'm almpost sure that our pre Production server has been installed as a desktop version .
