I have a need to collect some statistical data via a digital calliper connected somehow to a serial port. Anyone know of libraries that can be used with Clipper 5.2 to accomplish this?

Yes,

You will require the CLIPPER TOOLS, and in this there is a callable function comrecv. This will allow you to specify things such as baud rate, parity, stop bits, etc.

Thanks. I will try to locate Clipper tools. I am not sure I have it. Do you know if it is still available?

Clipper tools is still available through downloads try searching on Altavista that should find it for you I have seen it somewhere.

Try obtaining "TELEPATHY" library from Extrasensory Software for excellent serial comms, or "FAST" lib for basic. One word of warning, CHECK THE SERIAL CABLE TO SEE WHETHER IHE SEND/RECEIVE LINES ARE CONNECTED DIRECT OR CROSSED OVER. This little trap cost me a 2,000 Km round trip (by plane) and about $1,000.oo in extra expenses a few years ago.
