Data Access Pages

I am trying to create a data access page against a sample Access database. I go through the wizard to create the data access page and it creates the page successfully and at the end it brings up the page. It works at that point. When I try to copy the html file it produces to the

http://wwwroot

directory to put the file on my web page it comes up with an error saying wrong file name. Then it says Data provider could not be initialized. What am I doing wrong? Will this only work if I am running Sharepoint services? If anyone could give me a couple of pointers on how to get this to work I would appreciate it.
