I have just started experimenting with Data Access Pages in Access 2000. I created a form to collect names, addresses, etc. I was successful in creating the form, howver the form only allows me to see the present records in the table, I can not add any new ones.

I checked the properties in the record selectors and the show new button is set to true. The new records button does show up but it is not active.

I know this must be something simple, but I just can't get it to work.

Can you edit the data you see? If not, then your RecordsetType Property of the Page is set to dscSnapshot rather than dscUpdatableSnapshot.

I checked out what you said, and couldn't edit the records, and indeed the property setting was set to snapshot instead of updatable snapshot. However even after I switched this property it didn't allow me to edit the records or add new ones. Is there anything else you think I could try?

I copied an example of a Data Access page from a book and it allows me to do edits and add new records, I've been going back and forth checking the all the properties of this page and the one that I created, but they all seem the same. This is driving me nuts!

In order for you to be able to edit data on a Data Access Page, the following rules must be met:

1. Your page can contain data from only a single source (one table or query, for example)
2. You must use simple controls, like texboxes, combo boxes, and so on. You can not use the bound PivotTable control.
3. You can only display a single row at a time.

I also believe that the table must have a primary key or index defined (not positive about this).
