bit of a sticky one here. all my statons are win2k pro the server is nt4 server. all users have a roaming profile, exept i dont let them save any documents in it, as some have over a gig of stuff and the logon time would go though the roof, i have a folder on server1 called docs which is shared then inside that are all the users usernames then inside that is a folder called my documents, that is where i set the users my document folder to point to, i have mine set up as follows and it WORKS. my documents points to \\server1\docs\mturner\my documents\ the file permissions are
mturner full conroll
domain admins full controll

the standard user is

my documents points to \\server1\docs\%username%
file permessions are
domain admins - full controll
%username% - r/w/x/d

now, i can save delete and do anything i want to in my my documents folder, but the other users cant, it gives them an access denied, they can see the contents of the folder and open files but not save or delete. i have even tryed setting permissions as everyone full controll, still no luck, there is also no auditing entrys.

any sugestions, getting very stresses!

could be because they are not admins. A better way to do it would be same as you've got it, just put the home directory folder to \\server1\docs\%username%

In there put a folder called profile and set THAT folder as the roaming profile folder.

Then the My documents folder is above it, they have access to it and it doesn't get copied across the network at every logon.

fixed that, now the users start menu is acting funny, i have the location set in a policy to z:\set1\startmenu. z: is mapped to \\server1\pull. you press the start butten and it just stays in and doesnt appear.

any sugestions?!?

thanks
