I have a IBM laptop hard drive that is not recognized in the BIOS (have tried connecting to other laptops and even through a desktop connection). Is there any software utility that I could boot to through a CD that would allow me to recover data?
If drive is not recognised in the bios (of several machines), then software isn't going to be able to access it. Sounds like you need a (expensive) data recovery agent if the data is that important.
If you have or can get hold of an identicle drive it may be worth swapping over the circuit boards to see if the problem lies here (Rather than a mechanical problem, although these are usually still detected in the BIOS).
Thank you for your responses. The data is not that critical - so I think I'll just let it go. I unfortuntaley do not have another drive. But thanks for the feedback.
