If anyone suddenly cannot connect to the internet via a D-Link DI-514 Wireless Router, below are possible solutions.

STEP #1 -- SCAN FOR MALWARE
I was told by my internet service provider that I should UNinstall my AdAware SE software, and download another free scanner software (of course I had to do this from work since I had no connection at home). Before doing all of this, however, I was really curious about this "malware" that might possibly be on my machine, so I decided to run it first -- it found about 38 objects which I deleted. It did not resolve my wireless connection problem. I installed Spybot Search & Destroy, which found another 8 or so malware. Unfortunately, none of this resolved my wireless network connection, but was a good starting point, and I knew I was on the right track.

STEP #2 -- RULE OUT CABLE MODEM/ISP AS PROBLEM
Plugging your modem and cable directly back into your CPU should reconnect you to the internet without too much hastle. If it works, then Great! And you've ruled out the problem being the Modem or the ISP. If it doesn't work, call your ISP for assistance.

STEP #3 -- UNINSTALL D-LINK ROUTER AND AIR LINK USB UTILITY
Uninstall the Air Link USB Utility from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Uninstall the D-Link Network Adapter by clicking Start, Control Panel, and System, then Click the Hardware Tab, and Click Device Manager. Scroll down to Network Adapters and Right-click on your D-Link Air Wireless USB Adapter, then choose Delete. Reset the router to manufacturer defaults by looking at the back of the Router, where it says RESET, and insert a sharp-pointed object.

STEP #4 -- REINSTALL
Now it is time to reinstall the D-Link Router and Air Link USB Utility. First follow the instructions for setting up the router with your CPU and the ethernet, then follow the instructions for installing the USB utility. You should be connected to the internet in no time like I was.

Step #2-4 were my ideas. My ISP wasn't about to spend too much time helping me, so I figured I just needed to reinstall what wasn't working and see if it fixes the problem, and it did! Thank goodness!

I sincerely hope this helps someone out there.
Mindy
