Customize Log Files

Is there anyway to customize what information is stored in your log files. My server was down over the weekend and there is nothing in the log files noting what happened.

On a follow up, the only options you have with error logs is increasing the number of archive logs actively kept, beyond the default of 6, and the ability to write execution trace messages to the SQL Server Agent error log.
